“ De Arte Pingendi Fragmenta” In his paintings called “ De Arte Pingendi Fragmenta” Fabrizio Ruggiero points his creative attention towards the progressive loss of the idea of Wholeness in contemporary world. Out of this loss, reality can be understood only searching for the coherence of its fragments both within themselves and amongst each other. Lack of symmetry, lack of perspective and lack of a central point of view are main peculiarity marks of Fabrizio Ruggiero's “ De Arte Pingendi Fragmenta” paintings. Surfaces of Fabrizio Ruggiero' “ De Arte Pingendi Fragmenta” paintings are never flat; in accordance with the idea that it is possible to display objects through their spatial structures so, as it is possible to unfold space trough the fields of energy of objects. The structure of space is its curving or bending and the field of forces of objects is the totality of forces that, in a certain region establish the peculiarity of our experience at a certain moment. The central issue in Fabrizio Ruggiero's paintings is the question about which principles representation is based on. Being aware that a direct correspondence between images and the things they represent cannot exist, Fabrizio Ruggiero conceives the act of painting as an instrument to give form to ideas. Out of this way of thinking Fabrizio Ruggiero's work flows in many different streams. They all share the same thesis in the background: painting as « act » or « action » at the end of which a trace or mark is left, the work. Its value is important for what it expresses in itself, but also for the process and the ways by which it was brought to accomplishment. And this process is both mental and physical: sometimes implying thought sometimes stillness of mind. Gita Desai 2003, New Delhi
